Harry and Meghan
So after much speculation it was finally announced today HRH Prince Harry and the American actress Meghan Markle announced their engagement. Having first met through friends 16 months ago is has been a whirlwind romance with families on both sides said to be ‘thrilled’ ‘excited’ and happy for the gorgeous Harry and Meghan. The statement from the palace didn’t reveal the date or location of the ceremony but said further details about the wedding day will be announced ‘in due course’. She is likely to become the Duchess of Sussex, but before we start speculating, what about that ring?!
Harry designed the ring himself which features a central stone from Botswana, a place close to Harry’s heart and where he took Meghan for her 36th birthday, surrounded by two diamonds from the personal collection of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, on a classic yellow gold band. The was made by Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to The Queen. If you are after something similar but can’t afford the Cleave’s price tag, check out Goldsmith’s.
Three stone engagement rings are able to tell a story with the three stone representing the past, present and the future and is a popular choice but is now set to become even more popular. Today she was finally able to show it off after Harry popped the question earlier this month.
Meghan’s parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland, issued a statement saying ‘We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry. Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.’
Prince William and Kate also issued a statement saying ‘We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.’
The Queen and Prince Philip also sent their congratulations, saying ‘The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness.’
The Prince of Wales told reporters he is ‘Thrilled for them both. They’ll be very happy indeed.’
The wedding will be in Spring 2018 but with Will and Kate’s baby due in April, there is much speculation as to when in Spring the big day will be and I for one can’t wait to see how their plans unfold and how they will influence my gorgeous 2018 brides.
