Greenery the colour of the year!
So this year Pantone announced Greenery colour of the year! According to Pantone the colour is ‘A refreshing and revitalising shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings. Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring…’ So what do we think of Greenery the colour of the year?
Greenery and weddings
I have been very much in love with the colours last year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. In terms of weddings these colours are perfect. Dresses, flowers, centrepieces, invitations, you name it, they lend themselves to it. They are just the colours of weddings and they were everywhere. They are the colours little girls dreamed of, just look at the dress Disneys Sleeping Beauty wore…”make it pink, make it blue”. So along came 2017 and a new colour but is greenery a wedding colour?
A green wedding
Pinterest is full of Greenery inspiration and when paired with white is absolutely amazing. Fresh, clean, crisp and oh so pretty. We are also seeing it paired with with copper, continuing with the metallic theme that has been really popular in recent years and I must admit, my office, my hallway and now my living room all have copper tones.
When Greenery was first announced, it was like marmite. People either loved it or hated it, “Greenery colour of the year? I can’t think of anything worse” was one of the quotes I saw on Instagram. And to be honest, if all you had seen was the Pantone post, I understand. It doesn’t look very weddingish does it?
It’s very…what’s the word?…green! But lets think about some other trends we have seen recently at weddings, moss…succulents…outdoor shoots…and what colour do they all have in common? That’s right, green! So perhaps greenery the colour of the year is a wedding colour after all.
As I’m sure you are aware, I am Pinterest obsessed and this is most definitely the place for all your greenery inspiration. There are so many amazing boards and I for one can not wait for my first greenery wedding, I’ll let you into a little secret, she’s paired it with white and it looks amazing!
So Greenery – what do you think?
