2017 Wedding Trends
So this week I have had the most amazing week! I was given free cake samples from the wonderful Charlotte of Cherry Blossom Cakes, I was delivered my freshly printed leaflets for the Autumn Wedding Fairs designed by the lovely Catherine from InterPrint, I received the photos back from the shoot I styled from the terribly talented Leigh Mcara, I went for coffee with some dazzlingly talented people in the industry thanks to Natalie Hewitt and I managed to get out and catch up with some old friends. All of this has made me start to look towards 2017 which, looking at my diary, I already know will be an amazing year!
the 2016 wedding season may not have finished yet and there are still some amazing weddings to come but I have begun to think about the trends for next year and am so excited to meet with next years brides and to listen to their ideas. At the moment there are pineapples and flamingos everywhere you look…is that what we should expect or are there other 2017 wedding trends we will be seeing?
Rustic weddings are still looking to be big in 2017. Barns, burlap and beautiful blooms! Stunning venues with hog roasts and BBQs, flowers in jars and milk bottles, chalk board signs, bunting, naked cakes and twinkly lights. Lawn games and Pimms are perfect for rustic weddings. Together with a relax atmosphere rustic weddings a very popular choice for couples and have been for some time now.
A rustic wedding can also save you money. At a recent wedding I did, all the flowers were from either the brides sisters garden or from her mum’s and they were amazing! They looked perfect as centerpieces for the table, dotted around the room, around the cake and as button holes.
Many of the weddings I do at Clumber Park use vintage china. It is donated to the National Trust by its members and we serve afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast in the stunning Hawkins Study of the Parsonage. There are many places where you can rent vintage china and napkins for your wedding day.
When thinking vintage I also love an Art Deco theme or Great Gatsby. Black, gold and geometric shapes. Men in black tie and champagne cocktails. Lots of diamonds, gorgeous headbands with long simple dresses and gold sequin table cloths. There are some amazing Art Deco venues around that really tie this theme together.
Tipis and marquees, ribbons, pops of colour and big floral crowns. Food trucks, picnics and gin vans. Instead of wedding invitations think VIP passes on lanyards and wrist bands. Festival weddings are most definitely on the increase and there are many wonderful wedding suppliers out there who are tapping into the trend and you don’t need to worry about the weather. With wedding wellies becoming very popular and umbrellas from the likes of Brolly Bucket the weather doesn’t have to be a worry. All you need to do is find the perfect field!
Tulle, fairy lights and mirrors. The outdoors are most definitely the setting for an enchanted wedding. The recent wedding shoot that I styled had a secret garden/Alice in Wonderland feel to it. We mixed rustic furniture with green moss, bright pinks, reds and opulent gold. The models had big floral crowns and tumbling hair. I can’t wait to share some photos with you…
Mint and Metal weddings
Rose gold has been a big trend in 2016 and going into 2017 it doesn’t show signs of waning. 2017 we will be seeing it paired with mint green. Sparkles, sequins, candles, lanterns and birdcages. I am loving these colours together and feel some redecorating coming on. My office would look amazing in these colours!
